Hello everyone,
Our time at the ghost hive has wrapped up for the year, the festivities are over and alumies are packing their things to head home. Those who brought tribute happily clutch their gifts, sharing small talk to lessen the lingering fright of the Spooky Season.

We'd like to thank everyone for participating in this year's event! We hope you enjoyed it! We've certainly enjoyed seeing the community's art and will be processing the submissions and distributing all rewards shortly!

Lastly, over the course of the event the community earned over 6k candies! This blew our goal of 4k out of the water! The event shop has been stocked with lots of goodies at a huge discount and is now open for business! The event shop will be open until November 30th, so don't miss out on these amazing deals!

Hello again Alumers,
It's that time again for the staff newsletter, updating you on everything done in the last few months.

• First and foremost: Traits
  MarskyMessier , carlos_claee , Vilagyent and Blu_x_Jay began work on the new images for traits in the past two months. They are making steady progress towards having traits fully reworked with new images and descriptions
• Trait descriptions are currently about 75% done while Trait visuals are around 50% done.
• It is our hope to release these trait reworks by the new year!

We have some examples to show you what you can expect with these new trait descriptions! We hope they will provide a clear and descriptive trait definition to help any confusion surrounding traits or their appearance.

Ghost Parts: (Item Only/Seasonal - added using the Ghost Potion)
An Alumy has ghost-like ethereal parts that are semi-transparent and wisp-like. These parts are noncorporeal and objects or other beings are able to pass through them.
Some Alumies with this trait can make their legs or tail disappear into a wispy trail as they levitate above the ground.
This trait can also manifest in the form of small wisp-like friends that resemble other creatures.
✔️ Can replace parts of the body
✔️ Can trail off the body
✔️ Can be any color but must be semi-transparent

That's all we'll share for now, but we hope this gets you excited to have the Alumy traits reworks done!

Aside from trait updates:

• Admins have been busy with their usual duties: picking GAs, managing the staff, and fulfilling their individual jobs as admin.
• Event coordinators Vilagyent , Philologique , Rmin , JJBum , and Nightspirit alongside carlos_claee designed and are managing this year's Halloween Event. This work entails creating art, written descriptions, and on-site items and prompts, as well as processing claims and submissions from the community. They've also started work on the next event (Night of the Stars) and are looking forward to sharing with you all.
• Website developer MarskyMessier worked to implement the scavenger hunt extension (and several others) as well as reated art for the event. He also fixed bugs and is still working on UI updates for the site.
• Discord mods wearycosmos , Plov , SICPARANOIA-PNG , headed by Astr0fish have been managing the DtAA channels as well as ensuring the Discord remains a safe place for everyone there. They also worked on some updates to the Discord, and have recently released the Alumy Annual Gift Exchange sign-ups. More info about that can be found here.
• Masterlisters Froggy , L_moncello , and mawkatsu have continued their duties uploading new alumy and handling transfers. They are still slowly working through the trait update and BV form! This work continues in to the next months.
• In similar work, design approvers Blu_x_Jay , carlos_claee and MarshMoshi have been approving adopt designs and on-site MYOs and redesigns and have streamlined their process to be more efficient.

That about rounds up the work being done on the staff currently! In the coming months, we hope to release our trait reworks as well as other updates to documents like our ToS. We are excited to continue working on the species and improving slowly as we adapt to LK. We'd like to thank you for your enjoyment of the species and support and hope you have a great week!

Hello all! It is time for the Alumy Worlds 3rd Annual Gift Exchange! The Gift Exchange is a fun event that is run by the Discord Mods, where we exchange art to other people around the community. This year, we are also allowing Non-Alumy owners to participate and earn in species currency. Sign-ups have just opened in our Discord, so if you have any questions or would like to participate, please join the Discord through the link below.

Guest Artist (OCTOBER - DECEMBER)

Guest artists draw Adopts for the species during two months, and have access to Common and Uncommon traits! The Guest Artist position is expected to make adopts during the whole time of being a Guest artist in the species. Guest Artists also keep all profits from adopts!

Just as a disclaimer, we will be extending our usual 9 week term, to a 11 week term. This will be a one-off extension, so we can correct our posting schedule.

This year we have two prompts for the Alumy community to participate in:

Each year the Ghost hive makes a sport out of putting the Alumies visiting them through many events, some fun, some mischievous, and some more sinister. This prompt is both a writing and art prompt and uses the Criterion prompt selection for rewards introduced in the last event. We’re also happy to announce we’re allowing poems for this prompt, so if you would like to submit poems please check out the new tiered rewards found below:

The Hunt for Pumpkins:

There’s been a recent infestation of mischievous little pumpkin creatures so a few Alumies have come together to set a bounty to try to take care of the problem they’re becoming and are hosting a site-wide scavenger hunt in which you can earn candies for finding these pesky little pumpkin creatures.

This prompt may not look like the prompts you’re used to and with good reason! We’ve added a brand new scavenger hunt extension to the site which you can read more about here:  https://alumyworld.com/hunts/1 & https://alumyworld.com/hunts/2

For finding these pumpkins you will get these new gift boxes:

(Make sure you use them before the end of the event as they’re filled with candies which will be useful for the event shop and community candy tier goals)

=== Community Candy Tier Goals and Event Shop ===

This event we have another exciting new mechanic to introduce to you: a community participation-based candy meter which will determine the final price of the items in the event shop! For every candy you earn, candy will be added to the ghost hive's candy pile, as the pile grows larger and larger with everyone's entries, the more the community will appease the controller of this hive and the better the event shop prices will be!

Katak is working hard to make enough inventory to meet this year's demand and will be here soon with a new event shop. This temporary shop is view only until the event ends and all candies earned can be used to determine the final price of the items in the store!
The event store will be:
Viewable from October 6th - October 31st during which the prices will change depending on the candy tier.
Open for business from November 1st to November 30th

=== Ghost Potions Return! ===

Ghost Potions will be available in Katak’s Swamp Store from October 4th to November 30th for 60 crystals

When used, these potions give an Alumy the Rare Ghost Parts trait:
“An Alumy has ghost-like ethereal parts that are transparent and wisp-like. These parts are noncorporeal and objects or other beings can pass through them.”
