Night of the Stars

=== Welcome to the Alumy’s end-of-year event, a shimmering night of falling stars ===

On one particular night, stars fall around the highest mountains known to Alumies. Alumies of all kinds travel from far and wide to witness this beautiful night, and make wishes for the next year, but only sky alumies can gather these falling stars. These stars are critical for potion crafting, and potion makers must catch many stars to last throughout the year.

During this event you can earn event-exclusive items and Night of the Stars (NotS) specific currency called Stardust to use in a limited-time event shop. 
As you complete prompts, you will also obtain myth potions/MYOs and raffle tickets to enter a chance to win this year's NotS Alumy design.

This design was made by the lovely Nightspirit and we can't wait to reveal it to you all at the end of the event!

This year we have three dazzling prompts for the Alumy community to participate in:

Sky Alumies take pride in how many stars they can catch during NotS. Star catching is the main event, where Sky Alumy and Sky Alumy hybrids compete and come together to gather stars needed for MYO potions. This prompt is a prompt exclusive to Sky and Sky Alumy hybrids. It is both a writing and art prompt and uses a modified Criterion prompt selection for rewards. Another event Night of the Stars goers can take part in is the lantern festivities. Alumies of all types gather to release lanterns into the lakes and rivers. On these lanterns, they write their dreams and wishes for the future as they celebrate the coming year and enjoy the beautiful sights. This prompt is both a writing and art prompt and uses the modified Criterion prompt selection for rewards.

The last prompt of the year sees a return of a Makeover prompt. This prompt is to encourage you to update or develop your Alumies and has a plethora of options to choose from that are a mix of writing and art options. This prompt can be completed with any Alumy. === Sky NPC ===

We'd also like to introduce everyone to a new character joining the cast of Alumy NPCs!
Altair is a pure Sky Alumy Potion Maker who can be drawn by anyone looking to earn rewards from prompts regardless of if you own Alumies already! He is an outgoing Alumy, despite living outside any hive, and he looks forward to NotS each year. He’s proud and competitive during the event, wanting to be the fastest and catch the most stars for his potions. Above all he wants everyone to enjoy the event that’s near and dear to his heart!

Raven's Keep Trading Post

“What do you mean ‘Where's Katak?’ I know he's seen as the go-to potion maker, but Night of the Stars event-goers need nothing less than an experienced star catcher to make these items!”

This year features a temporary event store run by Percival and the Raven's Keep trading company, a respected, albeit chaotically inclined, Potion Maker’s shop who traveled to the Night of the Stars celebration with any and all items you may need for the event. 
Raven’s Keep Trading Post will be open from December 1st - January 11th during which all items will be purchasable with stardust. Percival brings with him a few new items we're excited to introduce to you so make sure to check the store out for yourself!

=== Event Exclusive Items ===

Radiant Goodies Box

This is a glowing box that when opened will have a random stock of items. It can be purchased in the shop for two crystals and obtained by entering prompts. Check out the item page to see exactly what can be obtained from this item.

Ethereal Wings

This item is a harness with a small cage on the back, which when worn, allows an Alumy to gain the ability to fly for a short amount of time. By controlling the creature in the cage, this Alumy can temporarily control translucent astral wings to fly at the speed of a Sky Alumy.

Similar to the Soap Gum item from the Summertime Odyssey event, this item allows an Alumy that does not have a subtype of sky to participate in a Sky Alumy exclusive prompt. The item’s effects expire after the event finishes.

=== New creatures to the World of Alumies ===

Oriowls

[Pet Obtainable]

This relatively small elemental creature makes its home in the highest cliffs and caves of the world. Masters of stealth, these owl-cat-like creatures are rarely seen unless out hunting the falling stars they catch with their bare paws. 
Oriowls feed on the stardust, minerals, and meteorites they catch which gives them their bright colors. Their being consists of a soft body of galaxy-like void similar to galaxy parts seen in alumies and bright glowing star parts that are hot to the touch.
Sometimes mistaken as falling stars themselves, Oriowls are occasionally caught by Sky Alumies on Night of the Stars and can be trained to help star catch as well.

Oriowls can be obtained as an ultra rare drop in Radiant Goodies boxes and come with many color selections to choose from. Best of luck to those who try to obtain one of these shy star owl-cats!

Whimmle

[Not Obtainable as Pet]

A small slime-like creature with floating astral wings. These creatures are harmless to Alumies with a diet mainly consisting of bugs and decaying organic matter. Whimmle have short lifespans, living naturally for one to two months, though some Whimmle in captivity have been known to live up to a year.
When controlled by an Alumy, their wings grow to accommodate the Alumy’s size and can be used in astral wings to give the Alumy the ability of temporary flight. When a Whimmle exerts itself in this manner it usually loses its wings for the remainder of its life.

Some Alumies breed and raise Whimmle to sell to non-sky alumies at the Night of the Stars celebration, but they, unfortunately, don't make good pets.
